Affairs and Fairy Tales from the Wicked Step Sister

In today's society, affairs are everyday happenings (sorry I am not one to sugar coat the situation). It's a sad statement but unfortunately true. Many of us grow up believing in fairy tales and hoping that our lives turn out with a prince charming in tow and a happily ever after. Even this wicked step sister thought that way once. Until reality crash landed into my own fairy tale dreams and made me open my eyes as a matter of survival.

I grew up as a princess, as so many of us do. As I continue to grow older, year after year, and remain far away from my home in the land of 'Brother's Grimm' my eye's are opened to the world that we live in today. Gone are the days when a white knight sweeps you off your feet and saves you from the black knight. And in a world filled with so much temptation even if that knight finds his way to your heart you may not be ready for him or worse, you may and you may and you may lose him anyway. With divorce rates on the rise - is there need for further proof?

I myself was a victim of losing who I thought was my Prince Charming. He rescued me from a childhood I hated (as most little princesses need rescuing) and gave me a happily ever after... sort of. That 'ever after' was happy for a short time in my life, but as I grew up, the 'happily ever after' I once thought I wanted became a prison. Again, I was thrown into the role of damsel in distress (something most of us Princess' are good at). This damsel in distress needed saving, but this time, there was no prince charming around to do the saving. Instead it was left to the princess to do the saving.

That was when the thin veil between my home in the land of 'Brother's Grimm' to here diminished. It was than that I stepped into this strange and odd world; when I turned my back on those childhood fairy tale dreams. Out of pure survival instinct I have learned to live in a world on my own, without the help of a Prince Charming who would rescue me. A reality where happily ever afters are rare and should be cherished.

Back on track, there are many reasons why fairy tales don't have affairs; and here are just a few.
